Lack of updates

March 21st, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Thoughts

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Hi all, well as it would appear that this site hasn’t been updated for a while, I thought I would post this short note to let you know that I am still alive and still working on the clearskys.net systems and plugins.

We recently moved house (and office with it), but despite all of our planning it seems the telephone company didn’t share our enthusiasm an as such we have been without an internet connection for a short while.

The good news is the telephone line is now connected, and hopefully ADSL will be installed very soon, so we will be back up and running again (fingers crossed).

Looking for pre-alpha testers

March 2nd, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in Thoughts

Work is progressing nicely on our new plugins, and on upgrades to our existing plugins.

Due to the extra complexity in these new plugins (and upgrades) I would rather have some brave people test these out and spot any bugs that have made it past my stringent checks.

If you are interested in helping out, then please feel free to contact me, either by commenting on this post, or emailing team [at] clearskys [dot] net, and I will contact everyone when the plugins have reached a stage that I am happy with (will be within a week or two, rather than a day or two).

Moving blog

January 24th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

Elements of randomness
This blog may be unavailable at random times over the next few days.
I am going to move it away from using Wordpress MU to a standalone Wordpress 2.1 installation. If the transfer goes well, you might not even notice.

Why?
I don’t have anything against Wordpress MU, it’s just that the domain being used to host the Wordpress MU installation (cafespain.com) is going to be used for another purpose. We just didn’t see the need for yet another multi-blog host, and Wordpress MU is overkill really for running only a couple of blogs, so our original plans have been put to one side (they may be brought back in a slightly different form).

What will become of Cafespain.com?
There are plans afoot, but everything is still up in the air and un-finalised, so I can’t really say much more, other than watch this (and that) space.

Wordpress 2.1 is released

January 24th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

Wordpress have releaseed the 2.1 version of their blogging system.
So far, all our plugins seem to be working correctly - but as I am running the current development versions, we shall have to see (I will be going through each bit of functionality later today).
If anyone has problems, please let me know.

Pre-release notice Availability calendar 0.2a

November 27th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

This is a just a quick note to announce the imminent release of the 0.2a version of our availability and booking management wordpress plugin.

I’ve changed the file structure a little bit to enable upgrading and interoperability between plugins in the future.

I’ve also added export feed formats for the calendar data (iCal and RSS) in a public (date and brief details only) and private (full booking details) format.

The calendar api for clearskys.net is still in development, so this version won’t have the connectivity element yet (which is the long-term aim of these plugins), but that should be available for 0.3a.

So Close I can smell it…

November 16th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

I’m sitting here putting the final touches to the output section of the initial release of our first Wordpress plugin (and looking out of the window), the Clearskys.net Booking and Availability engine.

It has taken a bit longer than I expected to develop, but a lot of the building blocks for our future plugins have been solved as part of this development. So the next few should be easier and more importantly, integrate together to become a complete property management system.

I’m away from tomorrow for a much needed break, so the plugin page and download won’t be uploaded until Friday at the latest, but that does give me some time to test it on a few other platforms.

Stay tuned
