This blog is written and maintained by the technical lead and founder of Clearskys.net. He is affectionately known as Barry (Barry G. or just B). He is un-affectionately know as [cut, B].

Being a freelance programmer since he was 12 years old (his first application ran on a BBC Model B computer and was designed to teach the math class the principles of probability theory, though in reality it just served as a handy method of winning sweets from class mates), he has since gained a bachelor’s degree in computer science and has worked in such fields as banking, consultancy and tourism as well as spending time as an enthusiastic database technology trainer. And all in only 10 short years.

Clearskys.net is based in the Spanish city of Murcia.

We aim to follow the “Have laptop will travel” philosophy, though in all honesty you will tend to find us at one of our local coffee shops.

As a company we tend to think of ourselves as developers first and designers second. Nothing interests us more than solving a tricky problem, or making something work in a way that seems simple, but sooo right. As such we love to work with independent designers. If you are a designer looking for someone to bring your designs to life, then we are the team for you.

Why is the company name grammatically incorrect, shouldn’t it be clearskies.net?

The company was originally called Clear sky (as in “The moon isn’t far a clear sky and stars“), with our web presence being internally known as Clear sky’s network. Unfortunately as you can not use apostrophes or spaces in domain names we had to shorten it to clearskys.net. For simplicity the company took the same name shortly afterwards. So, while in one sense, yes it is grammatically incorrect, in another, no it isn’t.
