Quick Hoard Hunter update
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Firstly thank you again for all your patience. I am still without a telephone line and internet access so updates to software and blog posts will have to remain patchy for the time being.
I have now packaged up the Hoard Hunter plugin and theme ready for downloading and will aim to get them available on the site tomorrow afternoon. There is currently a small bug in the PayPal integration class, so purchased sectors have to be manually approved, but hopefully I will have it tracked down before the release (if not then the first release will have it disabled).
Once again, if you want to try out the front end of the system then head on over to HoardHunter.com and purchase a sector. It is only $5, supports charity and helps me debug the code. On top of that you could win an 2Gb iPod shuffle for your efforts.

VERY creative idea…I love it.
On another note about this site: it’s kinda weird that you list the latest 10 posts in the left column, the latest 10 posts in the top right (offset by 1), and the latest 10 in the middle right. A bit redundant?

@Patrick Daly: Thanks and I know what you mean, I’m modifying the theme at the moment, so I’ll get it sorted soon

Hello “Barry”: First, thank you for your Hoardhunter game, I uploaded it, and initially thought I could apply the HH plugin to any theme (there are several nice accordian themes); so was glad to find the “Free theme”. My attempt has been to set up the hoardhunter, not as a charity game, but as a language learning tool; incorporating a story into vocabulary “matching” using the front page (1-100 sectors). However, when applying information to the plugin and installing the theme, including widgets which it appears to accept on my WPMU 2.6 install, nothing shows up on the front page (testing) as you may notice at http://teach-eng.com/wpmu/hoard website. Realize this is a big question for so much free but maybe you could tell me how to get to the next step, without investing….(i’m an unemployed ESL’er in the US,California. Thanks again, and by the way, there is a calendar plugin you might be interested in on the wpmu page - it reminded me of your events plugin and booking plugin - which I also tried to use (for student hours). This one works great too. http://teach-eng.com/wpmu/calendar

@Claire Frances: The easiest way to understand the game is to look at the index.php file in the Hoard Hunter theme. There are two important parts, the first is the action that creates the board and the second is the div statement towards the bottom that holds the messages. As long as these two elements exist (or are added) to an existing theme, then the game should work.

@Claire Frances: You might have a conflict in some of the javascript libraries loaded on your page. I’ll have a look properly when I get onto a faster Internet connection.

Thanks Barry, it appears the task may be too overwhelming, for me at least…should say, post posting, I viewed your just above comments on another page herein, and saw upcoming alternative themes,so please do not go to any trouble. I will try the Hoardhunter original theme again, and maybe this time sectors will appear, don’t know since it’s not the intended use…thanks again. Claire
