The Slice successfully survived the recent traffic spike (and I'd even forgotten to activate wp-supercache) without any noticeable slow-down. I can have two Slicehost slices (one for the web server and one for the database) and still have change. Second is web server - DV has Apache (which is overkill on a 256mb machine) Slicehost has whatever you want to install. I'm using Litespeed at the moment, which is a lot smaller than Apache and a lot faster on smaller slices. But I could easily install Nginx or Lighttpd if I wanted.
