Documentation and Forum sites down

Hi all

This is just a short note to say that the Documentation and Support forum sites are currently not very stable.

This is due to Media Temple having an increasing number of problems with their Grid server, which still hosts those sites.

Luckily, I had already moved this blog to our new Slicehost server. As soon as I can regain consistent access to the old server it looks like I will have to bring forward the transfer. There goes my weekend…..

Just wondering, why didn’t you go for (mt) virtual dedicated? Any particular reason?

I was planning on moving to the Media Temple DV, in fact I had my credit card ready :)

First is price - DV is hugely more expensive. I can have two Slicehost slices (one for the web server and one for the database) and still have change.

Second is web server - DV has Apache (which is overkill on a 256mb machine) Slicehost has whatever you want to install. I’m using Litespeed at the moment, which is a lot smaller than Apache and a lot faster on smaller slices. But I could easily install Nginx or Lighttpd if I wanted.

Hmm… thanks for advice because right now I’m looking for good hosting company for my new ‘more serious’ WPMU project… one of them powered with your plugins;)

No problem. Have a look here - this is the review that finally swung it for me:

    Thanks Matt.
The Slice successfully survived the recent traffic spike (and I’d even forgotten to activate wp-supercache) without any noticeable slow-down.

Now to get the remaining sites over and finally close the MT account.
