A lack of posts and updates

June 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Firstly let me say I’m sorry for the recent lack of posts and plugin updates over the past few weeks (close to a month actually, eeeek).

I can, however, confirm that development has been ongoing on all of the plugins, and work has commenced on a number of the most requested features (including Contact management, payment system integration (paypal and google checkout)) and the ever elusive multiple properties functionality. I have also started to move the Javascript used in the plugins to Jquery (and away from the Yahoo YUI libraries).

From the work I’ve completed on this so far, the javascript files and code has been reduced considerably.

The code for the payment integration will be available as a seperate code base here, so that it can be included to other applications as well.

And, on top of all that I shall be entering a new plugin into this competition, so look out for something special to be announced soon.

Moving instructions to new development site.

June 21st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

Over the next few days (or so), you may notice a change in the pages on this site. I will be moving the main descriptions and instructions for our plugins across to the new development documentation site.

Where possible, I will have the URI redirected directly to the relevant page on the new site or place a link on the old page.

Project added to Ohloh

June 16th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

I have added the plugin project to the Ohloh site. Mainly because I was curious about the metrics that they produce about the code and secondly so that anyone can go and have a look at the changes made and keep track of code updates (just to make sure that I am still working on things).

You can view details of the clearskys plugins project here, or by clicking on the little black badge on the right hand of this page.

Enquiry and Contact plugin bugfix

June 6th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

I have just uploaded a quick bug fix for the Enquiry and Contact form plugin.

This bug only occurs if you have both the Enquiry plugin and the Booking plugin activated at the same time and you are using the “Create booking” option from the enquiry admin pages.

If you are not using this functionality, then you do not need to download the fixed version of this plugin.

To get the new version, please visit the enquiry form plugin page and click on the Download button.

New look and Lessons learned

June 4th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Thoughts

This past weekend has turned out to be quite eventful all in all.

The all new clearskys.net blog design was on the verge of being uploaded to the server and released late on Saturday, when a strange mishap (due probably to the lateness of the hour) resulted in the themes directory of my local Wordpress installation being overwritten with the default themes.

After sitting in silence for a not inconsiderable amount of time, I decided to take a different approach and modify an existing theme (by Solostream until I get around (if I can find the time) to redevelop the theme I was planning.

Needless to say, I now fully appreciate the need for backups. All I need to do now is find a good solution for the Mac.

I will be making some announcements with regards to new plugin releases in the next few days, and will also have some good news for you Modx users out there (I know you have been waiting for a while, and I apologise for the delays).

In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying the (final) arrival of summer as much as we are.

Note: Apologies to all those reading this on the RSS feed, I modified the number of items published in the feed, so your unread posts count might have jumped up a bit.

Blog upgrade - again!!

June 2nd, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Thoughts

So, apparently the upgrade of this blog to Wordpress version 2.2 didn’t go as well as I thought it did.

After trying to upload and activate a few plugins on the live site, which seemed to work very nicely on my local development installation, I realised that something was definitely amiss. Drastic action was required, so I deleted all of the Wordpress code files and uploaded a completely clean install.

If you popped by very recently, you may have noticed a rather empty web page. Hopefully you will have come back and are now seeing this nice little post. If so, welcome.

This is also the first post created in an application called Journler. Those who know me will know how unorganised, and well messy, I am when it comes to work and organising my desk. I have thus taken it on myself to get organised and tidy my workplace (and laptop) up a bit.

Hopefully, this little application will help a bit, and also my initial foray into GTD (Get things Done) and getting a Kinkless desktop
